Unterwäsche aus Lyocell - Nachhaltig & Innovativ

Lyocell Underwear - Sustainable & Innovative

Lyocell is a type of cellulose-based textile material that has quickly become known for its sustainability. Unlike cotton, which relies heavily on pesticides and water, lyocell is made from pulp that comes from sustainable forests. In most cases, lyocell comes from eucalyptus trees, but the material can also be obtained from oak, birch and bamboo.

In the production of Lyocell, the pulp is first dissolved in an amine oxide solution. This solution is then forced through tiny holes called spinnerets to create fibers. These fibers are then washed and dried before being spun into yarns and woven or knitted into fabrics.

One of the main advantages of Lyocell over cotton is its low environmental impact. Significantly less water is used in the production of Lyocell than in cotton production, and very little waste is generated. Because the pulp used to make Lyocell comes from sustainable forestry, there is no need to clear natural habitats or displace communities to grow crops.

Lyocell is also biodegradable, meaning that it naturally breaks down in the environment once it reaches the end of its life. This is in contrast to synthetic fabrics like polyester, which can take hundreds of years to degrade and contribute to plastic pollution.

Lyocell is also a very soft and comfortable fabric that feels and feels similar to natural materials like cotton or silk. It is also very antibacterial and breathable, making it suitable for a variety of clothing and textile applications.

In summary, Lyocell is a sustainable textile that is made from wood pulp from sustainable forests, requires less water, generates less waste and is biodegradable. It is also a comfortable and breathable fabric that is a good alternative to cotton and synthetic textiles. As the textile industry becomes more aware of the importance of sustainability, it is likely that more and more Lyocell will be used in clothing and other textile products in the future.

That's why we chose lyocell for our sustainable boxer shorts. If you don't know the fabric yet, you should definitely give it a try. Read more about our sustainability here.
